The world’s first album honouring the most wondrous and endangered sounds found across the globe.
LONDON, March 26, 2024: Dolby Laboratories, a leader in immersive entertainment experiences, has released of the Seven Sonic Wonders – the world’s first album mixed in Dolby Atmos honouring the most wondrous and endangered sounds found across the globe. Dolby Laboratories, and award-winning wildlife sound recordist, Chris Watson - whose work can be heard on programmes in the David Attenborough ‘Life’ series and the BBC series ‘Frozen Planet’, reveal nature’s seven most awe-inspiring sounds through one-of-a-kind album, with a musical score by award-winning composer Nainita Desai. The album was mixed by Kurt Martinez at Dean Street Studios, to create the ultimate listening experience in Dolby Atmos – forging a deeper connection between listeners and Mother Nature. Album royalties go to EarthPercent, a charity providing a simple way for the music industry to support the most impactful organisations addressing the climate emergency.
The Seven Sonic Wonders were selected using the same criteria as the Seven Natural Wonders: epic natural beauty, the most endangered natural sounds, diversity and distribution, ecological significance, historical heritage, geographical location, embodiment of a sense of mystery.

THE MAKING OF THE MUSIC
My passion and own experience with nature and sound drew me to the Seven Sonic Wonders campaign. Humans, animals, and nature communicate through sound, so I wanted to create a musical framework that prepares the listener for each wondrous sound they are about to hear.
The climate crisis means many of these sounds may be lost forever if we don’t make a change. I hope that the album allows listeners to experience the same emotional connection to the sounds they’re hearing, that I felt when I composed them. What’s more, as they listen, they will be generating royalties that will go straight back to protecting our Home, Planet Earth.
