BAFTA BREAKTHROUGH BRIT 2016!!

Nainita is incredibly honoured and humbled to have been selected to be a Bafta Breakthrough Brit this year!

The 18 honourees were revealed last night at a celebrity attended event in central London. Of the recipients, Nainita is the only film & TV composer amongst the leading talented directors, producers, writers and craftspeople.

The Breakthrough Brits were chosen by a jury of industry experts selected from over 600 applicants, so I still can’t quite believe I’ve actually been chosen as one of the lucky few! At the champagne reception, hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James, actors Rosamund Pike [Gone Girl, A United Kingdom], Jennifer Saunders [Ab Fab], Joanne Froggatt [Downton Abbey] and Will Poulter [The Revenant]  introduced the successful honouree

I even got to share a glass of bubbles and laughs with the ‘absolutely fabulous’ Jennifer Saunders and the cool and sophisticated Rosamund Pike.

During the reception the new Breakthrough Brits mingled with influential industry figures, including commissioners, agents and game studio heads, as well as well-known creatives and performers.
Jury members included leading figures across the film, television and games industries such as actress Rosamund Pike, actor Joe Dempsie [Game of Thrones] and director Sarah Gavron [Suffragette].

The annual Breakthrough Brits initiative, which was launched in partnership with Burberry in 2013, celebrates and supports the UK’s leading talent in film, television and games. The honourees will receive one-to-one mentoring from leading industry figures and film makers, guidance sessions and networking opportunities, an exciting 12 months lie ahead!

Since the launch of the initiative, previous Breakthrough Brits have gone on to be recognised at BAFTA’s awards ceremonies, including four BAFTA winners.
